Endoscopic mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction
In September 2023, I performed the first mastectomy with immediate implant-based reconstruction in Poland—and one of the first globally—using an endoscopic technique via a small incision in the armpit. This method is ideal for so-called prophylactic mastectomies—for instance, in cases involving BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations or cancer phobia—as it allows for the safe, subcutaneous removal of the entire mammary gland while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding tissues. This results in a more stable implant reconstruction, creating a natural-looking breast free of the scars typically associated with a mastectomy.
